Portrait Throwback: Serena and her horses
To celebrate National Horse Day, here is a throwback to one of my favorite photo shoots ever of Serena and her horses Tag Along and Buttercup. I remember this day well. It was a warm, summer day on Serena's farm in Tennessee, with the session starting at sunset. The moon was brightly lit in the clear blue sky, and the atmosphere was calm and tranquil. So much mood, it was a photographer's dream. Tag and Buttercup were at ease most of the time, ready for their close-up. When I got the shot of Serena giving tag a big smooch (above), the sun highlighted the moment. It was perfect. Just perfect.
When the horses were away, and with the sun almost set, the focus was all on miss Serena. I was able to capture this beautiful lady in a lovely vintage outfit, that I handpicked just for her, in a setting that was more than ideal. She claims these photos helped her find her now husband. Does that make me a matchmaker?
